(CNN) --

One point for Drew Barrymore's daughter.

During a recent episode of her talk show, Barrymore and singer Christina Aguilera talked about communicating with their young children.

Aguilera said that while she is very open with her children, she tries to find age-appropriate strategies when talking to them about sensitive topics.

Barrymore then shared some of her challenges as a mother.

"My daughter wants to wear a crop top," he said.

“I tell her no and she tells me: 'You were on the cover of Playboy.'”

Barrymore is mother to daughters Olive, 11, and Frankie, 9, whom she shares with ex-husband Will Kopelman.

She posed for the cover of Playboy in 1995.

Aguilera shares her son Max, 16, with her ex-husband Jordan Bartman and her daughter Summer, 9, with her fiancé Matthew Rutle and said her daughter also wants to wear a crop top.

"I knew the day I wore chaps was coming," the singer joked about the outfit she wore in the 2002 music video for her single "Dirrty."

"My daughter also wants to wear a crop top and I'm like, 'Can you wear something with more coverage?' I see myself doing that."

When it comes to his daughter, he said, “I think I always try to instill in her that there are people who have good intentions and bad intentions.”

“I don't want to scare her in some way and have her live terrified of the world and think that everyone is a bad person because they're not,” Aguilera explained.

“But I also think it's important for her to have a strong sense of self, but also to be very empowered with her body and, eventually, her sexuality.

So first I want her to know herself.”
