Get ready for another dose of laughter as Lt. Frank Drebin takes the case once again!

"Paramount Pictures" continues with the long-prepared remake of "Bare Weapon", announced the studio, quoted by BTA.

Liam Neeson will star as the clumsy police detective Drebin, made famous by Leslie Nielsen's performance.

Akiva Shaffer ("Crazyhead," "Popstar: Never Stop") will direct the comedy, which will be released in July 2025. The screenplay is the work of Dan Gregor, Doug Mann and Shaffer, who previously collaborated on " Chip and Dale: Rescue Squad' from 2022.

Henry Cavill is giving up the role of Superman

The Naked Gun series originated from the 1982 TV series Cop Squad. It includes the films Naked Gun: From the Police Station Files (1988), Naked Gun 2 and 1/2: Scent of Fear (1991) and Bare Arms 33 and 1/3: The Final Insult (1994).

Leslie Nielsen died in 2010 at the age of 84.

Before he brilliantly played Lieutenant Drebin, Nielsen was primarily a dramatic actor.

"For 35 years, I played against myself until I finally got the role I really wanted," commented the comedian, known since the cult film "Is there a pilot in the plane?", at the time.
