Harald V

was hospitalized during a trip to Malaysia, where the monarch was on vacation.

The statement read: "His Majesty the King fell ill while on holiday in Malaysia and has been hospitalized with an infection. The King is receiving good care from both Malaysian and Norwegian medical staff," the royal palace said.

The new infection caught up with the king just weeks after it was announced on January 31 that King Harald was on sick leave until February 2 (due to a respiratory infection).

And in May and December of last year, Harald was hospitalized with infections, and in August of last year he was also treated for fever.

While the king is ill, his son Crown Prince Haakon performs the duties of regent.

At the same time, Harald V is categorically not in the mood to abdicate the throne in favor of his son.
