The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) has announced to improve the service package and prices, including the addition of 247 new drugs that were not available since the adoption of the package eight years ago in 2016. The

goal is to meet the needs of members based on the reality of now.

This was stated today by the Director of NHIF, Dr. Bernard Konga in a press conference in Dar es Salaam towards the 24th year of service delivery of the fund and said that the changes in the fund have been based on scientific studies throughout the country.

"We have not changed the cost or member's fee to join the NHIF fund.

What we have improved is the NHIF payment to service providers on behalf of the member," said the Director.

He said that the kit will come into force from March 2024 and it has touched three main areas, namely, registration service, advice and time to see a doctor, secondly medicine service and the third area and lastly surgical services and tests

The leader has said that they are on the way to start providing health insurance services to all through the new law signed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in November, 2023.

"We will provide education in the church, the poor in schools and other places.

Since the Government has decided to free the citizen, there must be health insurance for all."
