This year's Nobel Prizes will be presented today at ceremonies in Norway and Sweden.

Award ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 12:00 GMT.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi will not be able to receive her prize in person because she is imprisoned in Iran. The prize will be presented in Oslo to her husband and two children. Mohammadi won the Nobel Peace Prize for his human rights work on women's rights in Iran.

The Nobel prizes in literature, medicine, physics, chemistry and economics will be awarded by King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden in Stockholm. Each of this year's prizes is accompanied by a cash reward of SEK 11 million (about one million US dollars).

The laureates were announced in October, and the awards are traditionally presented on the anniversary of the death of the founder of the prizes, Alfred Nobel.
