Kannada veteran actress Leelavathi passes away at 85 It is being told that he died on Friday (December 8) evening due to problems running with increasing age. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt condolences through a social media post after learning about this unfortunate news.

A true icon of cinema, he graced the silver screen with his versatile performances in several films. His diverse roles and remarkable talent will always be remembered and acclaimed. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti."

Fans also paid tribute to Leelavati on her demise. A social media user wrote on X: "Leelavati was one of the finest actors. May his soul rest in peace," one user wrote, "Will surely miss seeing him on screen."

Leelavathi had acted in over 600 films, including Tamil and Telugu films. Some of his notable works include popular blockbusters like Bhakta Kumbhara, Santha Thukram, Bhatka Prahlad, Mangalya Yoga and Man Mechchida Madadi. Lilavati is a recipient of Dr. Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award from the Government of Karnataka.
