He said that the number of mycoplasma cases in Hong Kong began to increase in August this year, when there were 8 hospital admissions, and from 50 to 9 cases in September and November, and there is still an increase, most of the patients have upper respiratory tract symptoms, including fever, cough and sore throat, etc., about 11 to 110% will be complicated by pneumonia, most patients are under 170 years old, and some people with immune problems or high-risk people have serious complications, including pneumonia, encephalitis, affecting kidney function and hemolytic anemia.

He said that the incubation period for mycoplasma cases can be as long as two to three weeks, and that there were a large number of mycoplasma cases in Hong Kong in 2016 and mid-2019, and the number of cases in Hong Kong is still on the rise, and it is expected to continue to rise for some time.
