The forecast of solar and geomagnetic activity for the weekend of December 9-10, 2023 was published by the Space Weather Prediction Center of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Geomagnetic storms are classified according to their power level — the K-index — from 2 to 9. The higher the K-index, the stronger the storm and its effects and impact on people and equipment.

On Saturday, December 9, a fairly strong magnetic storm with K-index 6 (red level) is expected, which can affect the well-being of people. But already on Sunday, December 10, its power will drop to a green level with an index of 3 and the magnetosphere will return to normal.

Recall that earlier we wrote about whether solar flares and magnetic storms can affect human health.
