Mountain Youtuber Kate and her boyfriend were involved in breaking into the closed Chi Ma Wan Correctional Institution in February this year and using a drone to shoot and upload relevant footage on the channel. The two were charged with trespass, and the case was re-tried at the West Kowloon Court today (2th). The prosecution further charged the male defendant with one count of flying a small drone within a restricted flight zone without permission; The defence applied to adjourn the case to January 5 for further hearing for legal advice. During this period, the defendant was granted bail on the same terms.

The defendants, Lam Lok-yee (27) and Tam Tat Hang (26), both claimed to be YouTubers. They also face one count of trespassing on an property under the jurisdiction of a public officer or public authority, alleging that on 2023 February 2, they trespassed on Chi Ma Wan Road, Lantau Island, New Territories, without lawful authority or explanation, into a public body belonging to the Correctional Services Department, namely Chi Ma Wan Correctional Institution and Chisin Sun Correctional Institution.

Tam is further charged with one count of flying a small drone inside the restricted flight area without permission on February 2023, 2, when a small drone was operated and flown at Chi Ma Wan and Chisin Correctional Institution, Chi Ma Wan Road, Lantau Island, New Territories, Hong Kong, part of the flight was made without complying with the restricted flight area under section 17 of Cap. 448G. i.e. the operation was carried out within the restricted flight area with the permission given by the Chi Ma Wan Correctional Institution, 37-303 Chi Ma Wan Road, Lantau Island, New Territories, and Tam Tat Hang was the remote pilot of the small drone for the flight.
