On this December 3, Latin American Medicine Day, we want to send a congratulations full of admiration and gratitude for the tireless work and dedication to all Cuban health workers.

In the most dissimilar scenarios, even in the midst of complex circumstances and shortages of resources of all kinds, you remain firm in the principle of providing care to our people. It is not only noteworthy but also to be thanked.

We also remember the figure of the eminent Cuban physician Carlos J. Finlay, whose birth is celebrated today and in whose honor this date was instituted.

The perseverance and determination that Finlay demonstrated in his scientific work, until he marked one of the milestones of Epidemiology and discovered the transmitting agent of yellow fever, is the same that is reflected in the perseverance that Cuban health workers show in their daily work, in the determination of young generations of students of Medical Sciences who are trained on the path of Cuban humanistic medicine.

Thank you for your commitment, for demonstrating that "yes we can", for not giving up in the effort to perfect every day the work you do, the service you provide... Their work not only saves lives, but also inspires.

With gratitude, a hug.
