(CNN) -- You fooled us this time, Snoop Dogg.

The rapper, actor, and renowned marijuana lover made people believe he would quit smoking. But it turns out that what he meant was that he was going to stop fuming in another way.

Snoop posted a video on Instagram on Monday with the caption: "I'm done with the smoke. I'm going to leave the smoke with @solostove. #ad"

"I have an announcement: I'm quitting the smoke," he says in the video. "I know what you're thinking: 'Snoop, smoke is kind of your thing.' But it's over. I'm done with the cough and my clothes stink. I'm going to leave the smoke behind."

At that point in the video, he shows a smokeless Solo Stove.

"Only Stove announced that Snoop Dogg will be its official smokesman, in support of the company's quest to eliminate backyard smoke everywhere," according to a company press release sent to CNN.

"They changed the game and now I'm excited to spread the love and stay warm with my friends and family," Snoop is quoted as saying in a press release about the product.

The marijuana-loving man set the internet on fire when he announced to his more than 2.5 million Instagram followers that he had quit the smoke.

"After much thought and discussion with my family, I have decided to quit the smoke," she captioned a photo of herself. "Please respect my privacy at this time."

CNN reached out to his publicist for confirmation/clarification but did not hear back.
In the days that followed, Snoop Dogg seemed to be going through it. He posted a photo of himself pensively with a smoke emoji as the caption.

In another photo, the 52-year-old artist has his eyes closed. The caption reads, "Natural high," complete with a clock and musical note emojis.

Lest anyone doubt his continued devotion to marijuana, it was recently announced that he and Martha Stewart have partnered with BIC to create the "Best Buds" bags, which are "functional and stylish at the same time," according to the company.

Ironically (or maybe not), Snoop ends his "smokeless" reveal video by saying, "Smart." Very clever, sir.
