Acting Police Commissioner John Stanford told reporters at a news conference that police officers had arrested between 15 and 20 people, many of them juveniles, and two firearms had been found.

The videos showed groups breaking into an Apple, Foot Locker and Lululemon store, wearing masks and headgear.

Stanford said: "This will not be tolerated. "We have made arrests and will continue to make arrests until all the individuals responsible for what we saw tonight are arrested."

He urged anyone who knew anyone involved in looting or trying to sell stolen goods to report it to police.

"They gave us this information so we can arrest and arrest these people, our city can't stand this kind of nonsense," he said.
