The Muhimbili National Hospital Administration has banned the use of plastic bags for providers and relatives of patients in hospital settings (Upanga and Mloganzila), including wards and various service areas.
According to a public statement issued by the head of the Public Relations and Communications Unit (MNH), Aminiel Aligaesha the ban is being issued following the presence of plastic bags in the context of the government-banned hospital in the country.
"These bags are brought in by some relatives of patients who use them as food carriers when they come to visit their relatives who are admitted to the ward and some of the hospital providers here," Aligaesha said.
He said the ban is effective immediately and is for both campuses of Muhimbili National Hospital, Upanga and Mloganzila.
