When did you first meet?

Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan first met in the year 1970. At that time Jaya had become a superstar and Amitabh was struggling. Jaya saw him at the Pune Film Institute. Big B was there with filmmaker K. Abbas and he was accompanied by some other actors. Amitabh came into Jaya's eyes due to his tall stature and personality, but the matter remained only there.

Jaya's picture was published in a glossy magazine. When Amitabh's eyes fell on this, he kept watching. In Jaya, he saw the same girl he used to think of. With a perfect balance of traditional and modern values, Jaya landed in Big B's heart. The credit for their formal meeting goes to Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He brought the two together for 'Guddi' and from here their friendship started.
