People living near the Rialto Bridge informed the police that the color of the water of the Grand Canal was strange green. On the social media platform, Veneto Regional President Luca Zaia has informed from his Twitter handle that a part of venice's Grand Canal of Venice is appearing green, which has been reported by people living near the Rialto Bridge. The local administration has held an important meeting regarding this. As soon as the information was received, the police is currently investigating it.
According to the BBC report, the authorities have taken a sample of water, which is being investigated. At the same time, the reason behind the sudden change of color of the water around the Rialto Bridge has not been revealed yet, about which people are speculating. After the video went viral on social media, one of the reasons for this is being said to be the departure of the dye by environmentalists as a protest.
According to Italian media reports, local police are examining CCTV to determine if this is a way to publicise the Vogalonga boat race that will take place over the weekend. However, this is not the first time that the color of the water in venice's Grand Canal has changed. In fact, during the annual Venice Biennale in 1968, Argentine artist Nicolas García Uriburu changed the canal water from a fluorescent dye called fluorescent dye to green. The motive behind this was to show the relationship between nature and civilization as well as to highlight ecological issues.
