More than 4,000 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have been cancelled in January 2023 due to the failure to meet the legal requirements to run these organizations and not paying fees for organizations for two consecutive years.

Government lawyer Faki Shaweji made the remarks while providing legal training on the operation of NGOs to the directors of the organizations and urged them to continue to follow the rules of running organizations and refrain from donor contracts, which may break Tanzanian customs and customs.

He said that the Registrar of Organizations in collaboration with various government agencies is reviewing more than 8,000 unregistered organizations to see if they all meet the criteria for the operation of the organizations, including ensuring the organizations do not benefit themselves but instead support the community.
