During the 76th session of the World Health Assembly, a meeting was held between the head of the Azerbaijani delegation, Health Minister Timor Musayev, and Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation congratulated the Director-General of the World Health Organization on the 75th anniversary of the World Health Organization, according to the EPA.

Timor Musayev noted that Heydər Əliyev, the international leader of our nation, who celebrated the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan this year, laid the foundation for our country's successful and close cooperation with the WHO. It has also been emphasized that President Ilham Əliyev has placed great emphasis on further development of relations with the influential health organization.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced that he had taken a number of initiatives to combat pandemics. The minister, who stressed that the World Health Organization had announced the end of the state of emergency regarding COVID-19, thanked Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus for effective cooperation with Azerbaijan and the support of the organization during the pandemic.

Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, director-general of the organization, appreciated the importance of Azerbaijani President Ilham Əliyev's cooperation with the WHO. Particularly during the pandemic, our country's humanitarian assistance to the Organization has been recalled, but also global calls for countries to cooperate together to address the disease.

He also congratulated Azerbaijan on its declaration of a malaria-free country and said that this experience was an example for other countries.

Eventually, there was an exchange of views on the importance of preparing and responding to health crises, the importance of implementing internationally approved digital solutions in initial health services, and other issues of mutual interest.
