His works combine local architecture and the natural landscape of mountains. He has been engaged in ceramic art creation for 40 years. The highest honor in the ceramics industry is the "Taiwan Ceramics Award - Excellence Award". He encourages everyone with his long-term dedication to creation: "If you continue to persevere, everything will have a chance."

According to the Cultural Bureau of the county government, Shen Dongning graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Hsinchu Teachers College in 1980. While teaching, he learned pottery from Qiu Huantang, and found that he liked to create independently in a quiet environment. Emei, Hsinchu County, built a pottery studio by himself. He is like a hermit in the pottery world, and keeps creating in the quiet countryside.

Shen Dongning said that he chose to live in Emei because he was afraid of noise and crowds. The local natural environment deeply affected his creation. Because he lived on the side of the mountain, he could see layers of mountains at any time, and the element of mountains often appeared in his works. .

His creations are mainly based on architecture and natural landscapes.

Shen Dongning advocates a simple, textured and close to nature life, and likes reading, music, architecture and design.

He said that he seldom uses the traditional hand-drawn embryo form to create, and almost always creates with the method of Dosaka forming, which tends to feature geometric shapes.

Clay is a calming creative medium, so I began to try to use clay to create. The charm of clay lies in its softness and plasticity, which is very friendly, and it can also present a very hard texture. Its various appearances are fascinating.

In 1986, Shen Dongning participated in the National Taiwan Museum of History's "The First Ceramic Art Biennale of the Republic of China". He won the bronze medal at the first trial, and then won the second gold medal.

New Taipei City (formerly Taipei County) Art Exhibition won the first place in the pottery category.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau pointed out that the "Taiwan Ceramics Award" is the most important ceramics competition in Taiwan. Among them, the "Excellence Award" is set up to recognize those who have devoted themselves to ceramics culture for many years, which is the highest honor indicator in the ceramics industry!
