Women's soccer is the fastest growing sport in Tanzania, the culture of women playing soccer has begun to be understood by others, although there is still a large group that does not understand it.

In promoting women's soccer, the government has been organizing various programs to promote and develop the game, including the Games for Primary Schools Tanzania (Umitashumta) and the Tanzania Secondary Schools Sports Association (Umiseta).

Along with the government program, non-governmental institutions have also established special secondary schools to develop and develop sports talents for girls and boys.

Fountain Gate School with its headquarters in Dodoma region is one of the private institutions that runs specialized schools that develop talents and develop them, including the game of football for girls.

Due to the talents raised and developed especially in women's soccer, the Fountain Gate team has been able to participate in major women's soccer competitions for schools in Africa.

In this year's participation, it won the championship of the recently concluded MAKALA FOUNTAIN GATE African School Championship in Durban, South Africa after beating the Moroccan team of Ecole Omar IBN Khatab with 3-0 goals in the final game.

The star of the tournament and the top scorer is from the Fountain Gate team, Winfrida Gerald (19), who was born in Ifakara, Kilombero District, Morogoro region.

Winfrida was born in 2004 as the third out of four children of old Gerald's family, two of whom are male and two female.

The best scorer of the tournament says that he did not believe what happened in the big tournament in Africa until he won the title.

He says that it was not easy for him to believe that they are champions, because it was his first time participating in a major tournament and at that time he had not long since started playing women's soccer at the school.

The star in the big tournament in Africa, is a second form student at the school, he says he happened to love the game of football since he was young.

Due to the good success achieved in the game of soccer, she advises other girls to come out in large numbers to love and play women's soccer.

Winfrida urges parents and guardians to send their children to school and not to reject them when they like to play different kinds of sports because sports are now a job, sports build health, physical fitness and studies at school.

He says that the secret and success he gets is due to dedication, fighting, listening to teachers, dedication and cooperating well with his teammates.

"The secret of my success is to focus on those things and especially if you consider that I did not start playing long ago, just the other day in this position of striker," says Winfrida.

Winfrida says that throughout the tournament, the players were not afraid of the big shapes of the opposing team's players and that helped them to have the confidence to win every game.

Winfrida says her dream is to go far in the sport and that she is fighting to be able to fulfill her future goals of becoming a great international player. In developing sports in the country, she has asked the government and leaders at various levels to continue to strengthen the sports sector so that many children can come forward to develop their talents by their benefits and the Nation as a whole.

Before the final game, Fountain Gate played a semi-final match against the girls' team of Cag De Mfilou from DR Congo and emerged with a 4-0 victory while the striker, Winfrida scored three goals alone and that was a 'hat-trick' ' his second.

THE LEADERSHIP SPEAKS The Principal of Fountain Gate schools, Joseph Mjingo says that being champions at the level of the Federation of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) has enabled them to earn 100,000 US Dollars (equivalent to Sh 235,314,000).

After winning the African championship, Fountain Gate earned US$300,000 (which is equivalent to Sh707 million) and thus left with a total of US$400,000.
