THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND EAST AFRICA COOPERATION, Dr. Stergomena Tax has said that President Samia Suluhu Hassan's compassion for his citizens has made it possible for Tanzanians to return home to avoid the effects of the chaos in Sudan.

In addition, Dr. Tax has ordered all Tanzanian citizens living and working abroad to register in order to be recognized in Tanzanian embassies.

He said this yesterday when he received 206 Tanzanians from Sudan on an Airline Tanzania (ATCL) Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that landed at 3:15 in the morning from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

He said President Samia decided to ensure that no Tanzanian would be harmed due to the fighting in the country, so he provided a plane and paid for the travel of those citizens from various places to Ethiopia and later transported to Dar es Salaam.

"He has fought for them, not a game.

This exercise was not easy at all, we started traveling by bus from Khartoum to the Ethiopian border called Matema, 900 kilometers," said Dr. Tax.

He said that in Matema Town there were normal immigration procedures, but they passed without any problem due to President Samia's request to the Ethiopian Government.

He said that from Matema the Tanzanians traveled to the city of Gota which has an airport that could be used to transport them directly to Dar es Salaam, but it was small compared to the Dreamliner plane.

"We had to rent another plane that was used to take our citizens from there to Addis Ababa, which had to make two trips because it was small, but at dawn today (yesterday) they arrived in Addis Ababa and found our plane ready," noted Dr. Tax.

Among the Tanzanians who arrived yesterday, there are 150 students, 22 diaspora, 28 embassy officials and six businessmen.

The Ambassador of Tanzania in Sudan, Silima Kombo Haji said the task of gathering Tanzanian citizens to transport them was difficult.

Ambassador Haji said that according to the information available in his office, there are three Tanzanians who are businessmen who wanted to come, but failed due to passport problems and were directed to stay in the embassy areas to remain safe.

The representative of parents of children studying in Sudan, Rashid Kilindo thanked President Samia for enabling the rescue of children studying in various colleges in the country.

The leader and representative of students studying in Sudan, Salmini Banga thanked President Samia and all Tanzanians in general for their prayers and efforts to ensure that they return to the country safely.
