The mayor of Lviv

Andrei Sadavy

said that there is not a single church left in the city that belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UPC MP).

"Thank you to everyone who joined, and very worthy, without provocation, completed the history of the Moscow Patriarchate in our city during these two days.

For respect for the law, restraint and tolerance.

Before Easter, there must be order in the native house," Andrei Sadavy said in his Telegram channel.

The mayor of Lviv clarified that one church in the city, which was built illegally by the UOC MP, was demolished, and other churches and premises were transferred to the use of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the First Medical Association, respectively, where a rehabilitation center for military personnel will be created.

What is happening in Kyiv-Pyachora Lavra

In the Kiev-Pyachora Lavra, priests of the UOC MP continue to perform services with their believers in one of the churches.

Believers come every day to the territory of the Kiev-Pechora Lavra and try to defend the right to use the temples with prayers.

The former abbot of Kyiv-Pyachora Lavra, Metropolitan

Pavel,

has been under house arrest since April 1.

He was suspected of violating the equality of citizens depending on their religious beliefs and justifying Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.

The authorities of Ukraine stated that they will not force believers and monks to leave the Kiev-Pechora Lavra.

At the same time, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine,

Oleksiy Danilov

, emphasized that the current legal documents of the UOC MP do not correspond to the legislation of Ukraine and it must undergo re-registration, but for this the church should not be related to the Russian Orthodox Church.

According to information from the Security Service of Ukraine, law enforcement agencies are investigating criminal cases against 61 priests of the UOC MP.

The courts announced the verdicts of 7 priests who sided with Russia.

At the same time, 19 priests were deprived of Ukrainian citizenship and initiated the forced return of two representatives of the UOC-MP to their country of origin, as they had Russian citizenship.

On March 13, it became known that the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine informed the UOC MP about the termination of the agreement on the free use of the Kiev-Pyachora Lavra from March 29.

On December 2, 2022, the President of Ukraine,

Volodymyr Zelensky

, signed a decree on the implementation of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, which prohibits the activities of religious organizations affiliated with centers of influence in Russia.

The only religious organization connected with the Russian Orthodox Church is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is headed by Metropolitan

Anufry

.

Last May, at the meeting of the Synod of this church, the mention of the Moscow Patriarchate was removed from the charter.

But in society it is still called the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
