On April 7, around 10 a.m., security forces detained Viktar Sazonov when he drove up to his house in a car.

He was detained by the security forces in special ammunition, reports "Urban Human Rights Protection".

The reason for the detention is still unknown.

Viktar Sazonov was detained on July 14, 2021, when a wave of searches and detentions of human rights defenders swept across Belarus.

    , deputy chairman of "Viasny" and vice-president of FIDH, was detained on July 14, 2021.

    On March 3, 2023, he was sentenced to 9 years in prison.

    He was found guilty of "money smuggling by an organized group" in 2016-2021 (Part 4, Article 228 of the Criminal Code) and "Protest financing" in 2020 (Part 2, Article 342 of the Criminal Code).

  • Uladzimer Labkovich
