This program of greening the country has officially come to an end, as announced on the official social media pages of King Charles III.

In two years (the program started in 2021), more than 3 million new trees were planted.

Charles started planting trees with his late mother, and finished with his son Prince William.

"The King and Prince of Wales planted a maple tree in the garden of Sandringham House - one of more than 3 million trees planted in honor of Queen Elizabeth II as part of this initiative.

"It's hard to believe it's been two years since Mum and I planted a tree in Windsor Great Park to mark the start of The Queen's Green Canopy (QGC) project," the royal family tweeted.

It will be recalled that this unique British tree-planting initiative was created to commemorate Her Majesty's platinum jubilee in 2022, of which Charles was the patron.

"It is hard to believe that two years will pass through my mother and I are going to the background in Windsor Great Park to mark the mark of The Queen's Green Canopy."
