Svetlana Volchak

worked at BSU at the Faculty of Radiophysics and Computer Technologies, but in 2020 she was fired for her views.

"I started thinking about what I can do," says Svetlana.

- I can be a physics tutor, for example, because I like working in the education system.

She began to periodically tell something about physics on her Facebook page, tried to tell stories in such a way that people were both interested and understood.

And I saw that there are no people who would popularize physics in Belarusian."

Then Svetlana's acquaintance, scientist

Yury Adamov

, offered the teacher to share the books of the American popularizer of physics, Nobel Laureate

Richard Feynman

.

"We met with Yur, and he said that there are no magazines in Belarus that talk about science.

To this I replied: "Listen, Yura, we can create a magazine ourselves!" Yura wrote letters to political prisoners in which he described some physical phenomena in great detail.

This inspired me, I realized that those letters are, in fact, a scientific and popular article that can be easily inserted into a magazine.

I was very impressed that a person spends a lot of time to write one letter, which is not a fact that will reach its addressee in prison.

This letter has a very high value."

Work on the creation of a scientific and popular magazine in Belarusian began in the fall of 2021.

"I offered to digitize Yuri's article, and we calmly looked for people who would be interested in it.

I told one of my friends about the idea, one of my acquaintances immediately responded: "Oh, I want to do design!" - "And I'm an illustration!" It was very unexpected, I thought that I would do it all myself, because I draw, I know how to type .

We collected articles for a long time, I began to periodically write about it on the Facebook page, people commented - and finally the first issue was assembled."

Error Magazine

"I would like to live in Belarus"

Svetlana says that it was difficult to start working on the magazine, because she was then in Belarus.

"I had to make a lot of efforts not to focus on the situation, even though people are being imprisoned all around every day, you understand that you can't do anything, free someone, and it's very difficult.

Although I would not say that it has become better now.

I am in Poland, I am an emigrant, and I do not like this role, because I would like to live in Belarus."

Now Yuri Adamov is behind bars.

The scientist is charged with Article 361-2 of the Criminal Code ("Financing of extremist activities").

"We periodically talked with Yura about materials, preparation of the magazine, and somehow after March 8 I think: it's somehow strange, Yura doesn't write anything.

And later, Yuri's friend wrote that, most likely, he was detained.

Yura Adamov is a very modest guy, a classic "nerd", like your classmate at school who knows everything.

Yura is a very good person, so it is necessary to say about him, because the injustice that is happening affects very good people."

Now Adamov is being held at "Voladarka", there is very little information about him.

The team of the magazine "Error" wants to help the scientist with the amount of 1000 euros, which is collected here.

"Many people discovered something interesting that we use in everyday life"

The topics of the new magazine's articles are very diverse, its creator says.

"I like the physical theories of the 20th century, so I started writing about the theory of relativity.

Yura wrote about the history of computer monitors;

then there were articles about various scientists - this is exactly one of the possible headings, when some scientists, a man and a woman, are described.

In general, many people discovered something interesting that we use in everyday life."

There are also articles about architecture, mathematical curiosities from ancient Greece, about pharmacy production, Svetlana shares.

"There is a large article devoted to gravity batteries.

This topic has been seriously rethought in ten years, at the same time the topic of gravity was discovered already 400 years ago as a physical phenomenon.

But in terms of use, there is a lot of interesting in this phenomenon, which adults may not know.

And here is a very large article devoted to how energy can be stored in gravity batteries."

Svetlana notes that to write such an article, it is not necessary to be a professor, it is enough to know how to work with sources.

"These articles were written by people who are interested in the topic.

We urged: whoever loves science, wants to write about something, write to us.

And since I have experience writing and editing Wikipedia articles, I understand that in order to write an article, one does not need to be a professor, a genius, but the most important thing is to be able to work with text and sources."

The magazine is open to crowdfunding to pay for the team's work.

"We are looking for the possibility of financial support for authors, artists, everyone who is involved in the process of creating the magazine.

At the same time, we are now collecting articles for the second issue, there are already six, it seems, and when there are about ten, then we can start the layout.

We have also printed the first edition of the magazine and are looking for printers in different places.

In general, the journal is a form of activity of scientists — it is a gathering point for the community of people who want to be Belarusian scientists."
