AI-generated drawing is a hot topic recently. Midjourney is one of the well-known tools. As long as you enter keyword instructions, the corresponding image will be automatically generated. However, Midjourney announced the suspension of the free trial this week, which made many netizens feel embarrassed.

Originally, the outside world pointed to the abuse of AI-generated drawings, because recently some users used Midjourney to create fake pictures such as "Trump was arrested and wearing a prison uniform", "Pope Francis wearing a trendy suit" and other pictures were circulated on the Internet. Few people mistakenly think it is a real photo, making AI-generated drawings controversial.

David Holz, CEO of Midjourney, explained to the foreign media "The Verge" that the suspension of the free trial is because a large number of users have recently laundered their accounts. It is suspected that a large amount of traffic from China caused the server to be overwhelmed.

AI-generated drawings have also caused some controversy. For example, some users have made photos of Trump wearing prison uniforms to the point of being fake.

David Holz also went a step further and explained that the suspension of the free trial has nothing to do with fake photos, because to generate real images like Trump and the Pope, you need to use the V5 version, which is not available for free.

However, as the ability of AI to generate drawings has become very realistic, it has indeed once again sparked outside discussions on platform specifications, as well as concerns about copyright and fake news.

At present, if you want to use Midjourney, you need to pay at least US$10 (about NT$300) per month; when will the free trial service restart?

There is no clear answer yet.
