During March 2023, the State Border Service continued measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border, combat smuggling, illegal migration, and the illegal circulation of narcotics.

According to the information provided to APA by the State Border Service Press Center, 51 people were detained for violating the state border during the month, 23 of them were from the Republic of Azerbaijan, 10 from Afghanistan, 6 from Pakistan, 5 from Iran, 1 from Georgia, 1 from 1 of them were citizens of India, 1 of Guinea, 1 of Liberia, 1 of Palestine and 2 of Tajikistan.

24 people were detained while trying to cross the state border with forged passports, visas and date stamps as part of the activities to combat illegal migration.

988 people were detained for violating the rules of the border regime and appropriate measures were taken against them.

As a result of the anti-crime measures, 294 wanted persons were detained by the law enforcement bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and handed over to the relevant authorities, 429 persons prohibited from leaving the country, and 19 persons prohibited from entering the Republic of Azerbaijan were prevented.

330 kg 909 grams of narcotic drugs and 7,613 psychotropic pills were removed from illegal circulation as a result of measures to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs.

As a result of the measures implemented in the framework of the fight against smuggling activities, contraband with a total value of 4 million 235 thousand 748 manats, including drugs, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products and forged stamps were detained.

Measures are being continued to organize the reliable protection of our state borders.
