After a formal welcome by President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Frau Elke Budenbender at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, the royal couple greeted those who came to see them.

It was there that King Charles received a surprise from one of his fans.

Royal correspondent Rebecca English tweeted a video of Charles shaking hands with people when a young man tried to give him a paper crown from Burger King.

"That's yours if you want," the man said with a smile. "No thanks"" Charles replied with a big smile and continued down the line, making the man laugh.

Charles wasn't the only one in the crowd to give up the Burger King crown.

Great scenes today during the King's first walkabout in Berlin.

He was an affectively made coronation - a paper Burger King one - how nice that he has his policy: ``It's for you if you want it.''

Charles smiled broadly and said: 'I'm alright!'

We will remind you that the real St. Edward crown will be placed on the head of King Charles on the day of his coronation on May 6, 2023.

It will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury in Westminster Abbey.
