On March 30, 51-year-old

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands

took part in the Defense Helicopter Command's fire-fighting exercises held at the Gilze-Rien Air Base.

The training was carried out on a Chinook transport helicopter from the 298th squadron.

The Queen first attended a briefing on the army's firefighting operations and then personally took part in a helicopter training flight during which a fire bucket was filled and a fictional area was extinguished.

On this occasion, Her Majesty, of course, tried on a pilot's uniform - overalls with a patch, but combined it with a turtleneck.

She was also wearing tactical boots and decided not to take off her wedding ring.
