On March 31, a memorial ceremony dedicated to the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis was held at the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to APA, the participants of the event first held a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the genocide, national leader of our people Heydar Aliyev, police officers who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and died in the line of duty.

The national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

Opening the event, the head of the Police Academy, Police Major General Janpolad Daanov said that the genocidal policy started by Armenian nationalists against Azerbaijanis and Turks two centuries ago continued until the beginning of the 21st century, tens of thousands of people's lives were ended as a result of this hateful policy, and the real facts about the genocide have been unknown for a long time. regretfully stated that it was distorted, hidden and the real truths were not reflected in the historical literature.


Reminding that the genocide became the main line of Armenian chauvinism during these years, the head of the Police Academy said that national leader Heydar Aliyev, after returning to the supreme power, gave an objective legal and political assessment to that criminal activity and the atrocities committed against our people over two centuries, and the great leader restored historical justice in 1998. stressed that March 31 was declared the Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis with the decree signed on March 26.


It was noted that after this historical document, every year in our country, as well as in many countries of the world, various commemorations and commemorative events are held in connection with the genocide, and this terrible crime of Armenian chauvinism is condemned.
