The decision by the Cabinet of Ministers to limit the import of passenger cars older than 10 years to the territory of Azerbaijan will undoubtedly lead to the prevention of aging of the car park and the reduction of negative effects on the atmosphere.

After a certain time, this decision will lead to positive changes in the quality of atmospheric air.

APA reports that Nazim Mahmudov, head of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, said this.

He said that since a large part of the waste emitted into the atmosphere falls on the share of vehicles, the application of more progressive methods in this field, environmentally friendly vehicles should be encouraged.

"Encouraging the introduction of electric cars, hybrid vehicles, zero-emission or low-emission vehicles that pollute the air less, increasing the number of vehicles running on compressed gas, minimizing the use of vehicles running on diesel fuel, and giving preference to cars with small engines are among the most urgent issues of today."

N. Mahmudov noted that

a large number of old cars produced abroad are brought to our country, most of them have lower parameters than the standards, and those cars come from those countries where the highest standards are applied.

"So, since the technical indicators of these vehicles do not meet the standards, their operation in big cities is not allowed by law. The owners are trying to solve environmental problems in their countries by selling these cars in the best condition

. will prevent air pollution".

According to N. Mahmudov, in the current period, the results of this decision may not be felt so much, but after a certain time, we will notice that this step will lead to positive changes in the quality of atmospheric air.
