Rovshan Rzayev, the chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, met with the newly appointed representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan Mrs. Bik Lum.

According to the information given to APA by the committee, the chairman of the State Committee congratulated Ms. Bik Lum on her new position and wished her success in her work in our country.

Emphasizing that the meeting coincided with the Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis, it was noted with regret that there are those who want to continue the ethnic enmity against our people in Armenia even today, and the importance of the support of international organizations for the establishment of peace and tranquility in the region was brought to attention.

The guest was informed about the large-scale projects implemented by the state for the revival of the liberated territories of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur economic regions, and to ensure sustainable settlement in those territories.

It was reported that necessary measures are being taken to organize the voluntary, safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons to their homelands based on the principles of international law.

It was noted that a total of 510 people have already been relocated to Agalı village of Zangilan district and Talish village of Tartar district as part of the Great Return by the State Committee.

Emphasizing that UNHCR attaches great importance to projects related to refugees and IDPs, as well as the return of IDPs to their ancestral homelands, the guest emphasized that he will spare no effort to expand cooperation in this field, to increase gender equality, violence prevention, mine danger, and increase employment. said that support projects are implemented.
