After the conclusion of the negotiation procedure without prior notice, on 27.03.2023 a contract was concluded between the Ministry of Health and Leonardo SpA for the supply of 6 sanitary vehicles for air transport (helicopters), provided with the necessary equipment and apparatus for the needs of emergency medical care.

This was announced by the Minister of Health, Dr. Asen Medzhidiev

Dr. Asen Medzhidiev was born in 1968. He graduated in medicine at the Higher Medical Institute in during a ceremony of handing over the contract signed with the Italian company Leonardo SpA and the related documentation for the execution of a public order with the subject: "Purchase of sanitary vehicles means of air transport (helicopters), provided with the necessary equipment and apparatus for the needs of emergency medical assistance".

We rely on your assistance, on the experience and expertise you possess in the field of aeromedicine, so that we can continue to work in the interest of Bulgarian citizens in the future," noted the health minister Minister.

For his part, Andrea Mirteto, Senior Vice President of Sales for Europe, the Middle East and Asia of Leonardo SpA, also expressed confidence that the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Leonardo SpA will continue and thanked for the vote of confidence.

The subject of the contract for the provision of 6 sanitary vehicles for air transport (helicopters) also includes the delivery of the necessary ground equipment,

as well as the possibility of purchasing two more helicopters at a price not higher than the price of each of the previous six helicopters.

According to the terms of the contract, the first helicopter should be received by representatives of the Ministry of Health by December 15 of this year at the manufacturer's plant in Italy, and in January 2024 it should be delivered to Bulgaria.

Delivery of the remaining helicopters will be carried out in stages as follows:

- Delivery of helicopter No. 2 – 30.06.2024

- Delivery of helicopter No. 3 – 31.12.2024

- Delivery of helicopter No. 4 – 30.06.2025

- Delivery of helicopter No. 5 – 31.12.2025

- Delivery of helicopter No. 6 – 30.04.2026 

We remind you that in July 2022, the Ministry of Health announced a public procurement with the subject: "Purchase of sanitary vehicles for air transport (helicopters), provided with the necessary equipment and apparatus for the needs of emergency medical assistance".

Under the procedure, six helicopters were to be purchased, along with the necessary ground equipment.

The public procurement was terminated because the only tender submitted in the procedure exceeded the financial resource determined by the contracting authority.

In order to introduce emergency air assistance in our country as quickly as possible, in January 2023 a negotiation procedure was announced without prior announcement for the purchase of helicopters.
