The Singida Region has received Shs 34,988,762,952.2 to strengthen the health sector during the two years of the Sixth Phase Government.

The Head of the Region, Peter Serukamba has said that among these funds, Sh8.9 billion and other sources were derived from the charges of telephone transactions for the construction of 20 health centers.

Some of these centers were mentioned by Serukamba as Ntuntu, Chibumagwa, Ilunda, Gumanga, Mandewa, Urugu, Kisiri, Mwanduijembe, Iyumbu, Unyambwa, Sanza, Makuro, Makulu and Mtipa.

"6,650,000,000 shillings were received for building four new hospitals in Ikungi, Mkalama, Singida and Itigi districts as well as renovating the Manyoni district hospital," said Serukamba.

He said Shs 2,550,000,000 was received to complete 51 clinics built by the people, Shs 1,400,000,000 was received for the construction of three emergency buildings in the district hospitals of Iramba, Manyoni, Mkalama and two buildings for critical patients were built in the district hospitals of Singida and Iramba.

Serukamba said the housing of health workers has been improved and six houses have been built in Itigi, Manyoni, Iramba, Mkalama and Singida councils for Shs 540,000,000.

He said they received Shs 2,050,000,000 for the purchase of medical equipment at district hospitals, health centers and clinics in Iramba, Mkalama, Ikungi and Manyoni councils to start providing services.

The construction of infrastructure in the Regional Referral Hospital received Shs 11,833,184,333.30 and it was stated by Serukamba that the intensive care building, the emergency building, the house of the servant have been built.

He also said that the construction of a separate four-floor building has been carried out, the purchase of medical equipment and the repair of CT-Scan and Digital X-Ray rooms have been carried out as well as staff trained on the job.

He said Shs 1,065,391,118.89 was received for the promotion of vaccination against the Covid-19 disease where 906,420 citizens equal to 102 percent were given the vaccine.
