Usevya Development Society (UDESO), a non-governmental INSTITUTION in Katavi region, has described the success of the public resources monitoring project (PETS), including some of the challenges identified in the health sector.

Speaking about the success of the research conducted by the Committee for Monitoring the Use of Public Resources, the coordinator of the project, Paul Masanja, said that it includes some of the agendas raised by the committee, including citizens' complaints about the availability of medicines in clinics and health centers.

He has said that it was found that the problem is not with the attendants but with the chain of access to drugs until they arrive at the centers from the main drug depot.

He said, the problem of some health workers not wearing uniforms when they are in the workplace has also started to be worked on, including waste incinerators.

And the Assistant Planning Officer of Mpimbwe District Council, Benjamin Richard has said that despite the fact that the project has been implemented for a short period of time, it has reminded their office in the monitoring of projects and the use of resources, especially money in various areas.

On his part, the Director (UDESO), Eden Wayimba, has given an opinion to the community to appreciate the projects implemented by the government and to ensure that the buildings being built do not wear out.

On February 19, 2023 the committee handed over a report to the Head of Mlele District, Majid Mwanga, where one of the challenges identified was the unfriendly environment for providing services in clinics and various health centers.

Another challenge is the lack of tools at the Mbede Dispensary, the lack of fences at the Mbede and Kibaoni Dispensaries, a situation that causes children to easily enter to pick up cans of medicine and animals to interrupt.

However, after receiving the report, the Head of Mlele District, Majid Mwanga, praised the UDESO institution for issuing the report for what he claimed would help the government to know where there are challenges and work on the deficiencies identified, in order to increase efficiency.
