Huang Minhui said that from the period of Japanese occupation to the present, the clustering phenomenon of doctors' clinics in Jiashi and the medical culture, space, and stories they carried have jointly protected the safety of urban residents. It is the epitome of Taiwan's modern primary medical culture, and the life experiences of many senior doctors And deeds have also affected the development of Jiashi. In recent years, the severe test of the epidemic has made everyone realize the hard work and importance of medical staff. We look forward to paying tribute to medical practitioners through the exhibition.

Lu Yijun said that since 2018, the Cultural Affairs Bureau commissioned the Taiwan Library Cultural Association to launch the "Old Medical Museum Story Writing Project". Through data collection and field investigation, the materials of 60 old medical clinics were consolidated, and the doctor's clinic in Jiashi during the Japanese occupation period was learned. That is to say, there are more than 100 clinics. The earliest public medical facility "Chiayi Branch Clinic" was established in 1895 (the predecessor of the Chiayi Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare). Many outstanding local young people choose to practice medicine, and after graduation and obtaining a license, they return to their hometown to practice. , such as Dr. Huang Fanglai from "Fanglai Dental Hospital", Dr. Chen Zonghui from "Ying'antang Hospital", and Dr. Lai Shangxun from the Lai family in Chiayi, etc.

There are also many doctors from other places and foreigners who also settled in Jiashi. For example, Dr. Huang Wentao, who was born in Changhua and obtained a doctorate in medicine from Kyoto Imperial University, opened the "Shangchi Hospital" from Xiluo to Chiayi in 1933. Former Chiayi, who was born in a scholarly family in Tainan Mayor Xu Shixian obtained a postdoctoral degree in Japan, and returned to Chiayi with his husband Zhang Jintong to open "Shun Tian Hospital".

Su Mingxiu said that the exhibition is centered on the human "doctor", the space "medical hall", and the city "the town of the doctor". The special exhibition is like a guide to medicine, leading the audience to better understand the local medical culture of Jiashi, and then touching the city. Rejuvenation and new development, the exhibition will be held until September 10th. During the period, a number of educational promotion activities and in-depth lectures will be launched, allowing everyone to follow the clues of the old medical center and explore the urban area of ​​Chiayi.
