History of Martyr's Day

Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were against the British Raj and wanted to make India independent.

To avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai, all three decided to revolt.

All three were arrested by the British government under different cases, including the murder of British police officer John Saunders.

In fact, after Sir John Simon's arrival in Lahore, Lala Lajpat Rai started a peaceful sit-in with the slogan 'Simon Go Back'.

On this, on the orders of James Scott, the police lathi-charged, in which Lala Lajpat Rai died after being injured.

Only after the death of Lala Lajpat Rai, all three conspired to kill James Scott but police officer John Saunders was killed.

Apart from this, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were planning an attack on the British-era Central Assembly which was against the Public Safety Bill and the Trade Dispute Act.

The plan to explode the bomb was fixed on April 8, 1929, in which all three were arrested and hanged on March 23, 1931.
