[Reporter Hua Mengjing/Hualien Report] Before the Ching Ming Festival, many people visited graves in advance. A few days ago in Hualien, a 10-year-old boy had a fever for several days, and the use of antipyretic drugs did not improve. The parents took the boy to the emergency department of the hospital. The doctor inquired and learned that the child had gone to the mountain to visit the grave with his family, and found eschar on the boy's wrist, which was diagnosed as "tsutsugamushi disease"!

Yang Ziyi, a pediatrician at Mennonite Hospital in Hualien, said that he found an eschar on the wrist joint of a 10-year-old boy, which was consistent with the symptoms of scrub typhus. Then he asked the parents if they had been outdoors recently.

The parents said that they had taken the child to the mountain to sweep the tomb last week, so the doctor arranged for the boy to be hospitalized and given antibiotics. The boy's condition improved significantly the next day. Yang Ziyi appealed that the incubation period of scrub typhus infection is usually about 9 to 12 days. If you have headache, fever and other physical symptoms, you should seek medical examination as soon as possible.
