New research claims to have identified the three types of orgasm women experience.

How?

Using data collected from a 'biofeedback vibrator'.

After allowing the participants to have fun with a Bluetooth-equipped Lioness dildo, the scientists were able to classify the orgasms into three types - ocean wave, volcano and avalanche, writes the website obekti.bg

The vibrator manufacturer was able to identify these three types of orgasm back in 2017. However, this new and relatively small study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine seems to confirm their claims.

In it, 54 women who used the Lioness vibrator allowed scientists to collect data on their masturbation.

The ladies are divided into two groups - one actually performs the act itself, while the other is "control" - in which the dildo is simply put in its place without masturbating.

The women in the first group were instructed to masturbate until they reached orgasm.

Subsequently, they must turn off the device for 2 minutes.

This allows the scientists to understand exactly when the orgasm itself occurred and to observe the changes in the contractions of the pelvic floor before and after.

Sex toys have sensors that measure pressure, as well as tools for measuring temperature, a gyroscope and an accelerometer.

They all transmit the data to a server via Bluetooth.

These data seem to confirm the three types of orgasm previously described by Lioness:

“Ocean wave” (short-term pelvic floor contractions preceded by a rising rhythm of pelvic tension and release), “volcano” (orgasm preceded by rising pelvic floor tension) and “avalanche” (higher baseline contractions) in the pelvic floor, maintained through masturbation, but a descending contraction profile during and after orgasm).

The women's descriptions give a little more information about the three types of orgasm.

For example, for "volcano" one lady says the following: "almost every muscle in my body tenses as the pleasure increases greatly, finally there is a huge release.

I know it's over and I can relax."

As for the “avalanche” – “my body starts shaking and I suddenly 'burst' into orgasm.

I get some kind of cramping, but the good kind, over and over again.

Little by little they start to decrease and my muscles relax."

The orgasm that women most often experience is an "ocean wave" (26 of 54).

"I feel like I'm in the ocean and the waves wash over me one after the other," says one lady in relation to this guy.

In second place is "avalanche" (17 out of 54), and in third - "volcano" (11 out of 54).

According to Lioness, data shows that women generally experience only one type of orgasm.

“A person with a volcano-type orgasm will also not experience an avalanche,” the company wrote in 2017. “This does not mean that it is impossible for the types to intertwine (we have no way of knowing for sure), but to date we have not found a case of a person with several types or one where the types change (even in data collected over a period of years)."
