The Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango has ordered an evaluation of the prices used by the Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) to dig public wells so that they are not higher than the prices of private companies.

Dr. Mpango issued the order while inspecting vehicles and equipment for drilling wells and dams handed over to Ruwasa.

He inspected the vehicles in Dar es Salaam yesterday during the launch event of the information on the performance of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Authority for the year 2021/2022, he also ordered the drilling machines purchased by the government to be used for the intended use including services to the citizens at low cost.

He has instructed the water authorities to give priority to delivering clean water to important areas of providing social services including hospitals, houses of worship, health centers and schools.

In another step, Dr Mpango has instructed the Energy and Water Regulatory Authority (EWURA) to increase its efforts to audit water invoices issued to customers of water authorities in the country.
