[Reporter Xu Shiying/Comprehensive Report] The animated documentary "Changchun Incident" is directed by Canadian director Jason Loftus. It uses animation and live-action interview techniques to reproduce a TV spot incident in Changchun, China 21 years ago. The true story of illegal arrest, cruel torture and even death of many people was put on the big screen, and it was continuously shown in dozens of countries around the world, and swept 13 awards at international film festivals.

The incident in the film took place on March 5, 2002. The 32 channels of China's official Changchun cable TV were inserted by unknown people for nearly 50 minutes, revealing the truth about religious freedom.

More than 100,000 citizens witnessed it with their own eyes, alarming the Chinese government.

Less than an hour after the broadcast, the CCP launched a frantic crackdown. It is believed that more than 5,000 people were illegally arrested, and many participants were brutally tortured and even died.

The main creator of the film, Nobita Nobita, was also forced to flee at that time. It was through the hand of the artist Nobita who was born in Changchun that the film brought his nostalgic and beautiful 2D illustrations to life in a 3D animation documentary. The real-life interviews revealed this heart-wrenching and cruel truth.

Director Jason Loftus, who has been interested in Eastern philosophy and meditation since high school, mentioned the origin of creation, Jason said that he first met Nobita who lived in New York to make illustrations for video games. The two talked about this past when they met in Toronto, and Jason's wife, Martha, happened to be from Changchun.

During the six-year production process, it was also interfered by the CCP.

During that period, his wife Martha’s family in China was harassed, and his business cooperation with China was also disrupted. However, he said fearlessly: “If I can’t tell the truth under free conditions, I will regret it in the future.”

"The Changchun Incident" will be screened in Taiwan on April 7. On March 26 and 29, there will be three limited word-of-mouth shows in Taipei, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. Interested audiences are welcome to watch the movie first. Seats are limited and sold out until.
