Nowruz holiday is celebrated in Azerbaijan today.

APA informs that Novruz is an ancient folk holiday that symbolizes the arrival of spring, meaning "New Day".

Nowruz is celebrated on the day of the equinox (March 20, 21 or 22), the beginning of astronomical summer in the Northern Hemisphere.

A number of nations associated the arrival of spring with the revival of nature, held festivities on this occasion, and celebrated it as the beginning of the new year.

Starting from ancient times, along with Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other Eastern nations, Azerbaijani Turks welcome the arrival of spring - the new year with festivities.

On September 30, 2009, Nowruz was included in the list of intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, and on February 23, 2010, the UN declared March 21 as "International Nowruz Day".

Spring will enter Azerbaijan on March 21 at 01:24:24 Baku time.

There will be no work in the country on March 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 due to Nowruz holiday.
