The criminal trial of 4 accused in connection with the "Tartar case" - Vusal Alasgarov, Rashid Niftaliyev, Ramil Garayev and Rustam Alasgarov - has started.

APA reports that the trial is being held in the Sumgayit Court Complex under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman of the Baku Military Court Zeynal Aghayev.

Prosecutor Orkhan Samadov of the State Prosecution Department of the General Prosecutor's Office defends the state prosecution in the case.

17 out of 192 people recognized as victims of the case at the preparatory meeting participated in today's meeting.

In the process, the questionnaire data of the accused persons were clarified and their rights were explained.

Later, the parties presented motions.

First, the victims Emil Orujov and Rafail Emchiyev announced their petitions.

One of the motions is related to aggravated charges against the accused persons.

According to the victims, the charges against the accused are too lenient compared to their crimes.

Additional charges should be announced to review this matter.

Another petition filed by Emil Orujov was related to the exemption of the former corps commander, Major General Hikmat Hasanov, the current corps commander, Lieutenant General Mais Barkhudarov, the servicemen who were deputies of the corps commander at that time, and other high-ranking persons.

The victim believes that the persons in question should be interrogated and confronted in court.

The lawyers of the accused requested that the trial be held behind closed doors and that the preventive measures chosen for their clients be replaced by house arrest.

The attitude of the public prosecutor and the victims was the same to the petitions raised by the lawyers.

The prosecutor said that during the investigation, all the cases were clearly in front of the media, and there were no special cases in the criminal case.

Therefore, the process should be open to the public.

It was also requested to reject the motion to release the accused persons to house arrest.

Commenting on the motions raised by the victims, the prosecutor said that the alleged circumstances related to the aggravation of the charges brought against the accused persons should be investigated by adding them to the case materials.

As for the non-responsibility of other persons involved in the crime, the prosecutor said that the investigation of the case is currently ongoing: "The investigation of the additional cases of the persons brought to criminal responsibility is ongoing.

If other persons are also guilty, they will be brought to criminal responsibility."

The petitions regarding the release of the accused persons to house arrest and the closed proceedings were rejected by the court.

At this stage, the motions related to the aggravation of the charges and the interrogation of high-ranking persons were not considered.

The review session of the court is scheduled for March 28.
