On March 9, the 40th ceremony of the head of the Security Service, senior lieutenant Orkhan Askerov, who was martyred during the terrorist attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran, was held.

According to the information provided to APA by the Ganja Executive Authority, the ceremony was attended by the head of the City Council Niyazi Bayramov, the Turkish Consul General in Ganja Recep Oztop, the chairman of the Ganja Branch of ANAS, academician Fuad Aliyev, MPs Nagif Hamzayev, Mushfiq Jafarov, the head of the Office of the Ganja City Executive Authority. employees, mayors, heads of departments, enterprises and organizations took part.

Niyazi Bayramov expressed his condolences to Rizvan Asgarov, the father of martyr Orkhan Asgarov.

It should be recalled that on January 27, 2023, there was a terrorist attack on the embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran.

A person armed with a "Kalashnikov" assault rifle broke into a guard post, killed the head of the embassy's Security Service, senior lieutenant Orkhan Asgarov, and injured two others.

The terrorist was detained by the embassy staff.

On January 29, 2023, employees and family members of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran were evacuated to Baku.

At the same time, the activities of the diplomatic mission were completely suspended.

Orkhan Asgarov, who was martyred as a result of the terrorist attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran, was buried on January 30 in the Alley of Second Martyrs.

It should be noted that in accordance with the relevant Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, martyr Orkhan Asgarov was awarded the "For the Fatherland" medal (posthumously).
