On March 6, the first tree-planting action of the "All-Republic Greening Marathon" ("Green Marathon") for the spring season of 2023 was held in Baku with the participation of Leyla Aliyeva, vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union.

APA reports that during the tree-planting campaign, a garden of sakura trees donated to Azerbaijan by the Japanese government was planted in the "Youth" park located in the Khatai district of Baku.

The blossoming of those sakura trees planted as a symbol of friendship between Azerbaijan and Japan will be a symbol of the development of the countries, their friendship and solidarity.

At the same time, during the campaign, with the participation of volunteers, new pine trees suitable for the soil and climate conditions of the Absheron peninsula were planted in the park instead of dry trees.

Within the framework of the "Green Marathon" campaign, which is jointly organized by the IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, mass tree planting actions are organized in different regions of the country during the spring and autumn planting seasons.

The main goal of the campaign is to contribute to the increase of green areas, environmental protection by encouraging tree planting, and at the same time, raising awareness about the protection of green areas.

IDEA Public Union, which intends to continue efforts to protect and increase greenery in our country, together with its partners, calls on the public to actively participate in the fight for the protection of our planet and the measures taken for the sake of the environment.
