A 42-year-old Mr. Lin, who is engaged in the construction industry, accidentally fell from a 2-meter-high scaffolding while working, and his left foot and right hand were fractured. During the 3-month treatment period, there was no income and financial difficulties at all. After being referred by a rehabilitation physician to the Occupational Injury Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Integration Service Center for assistance, he successfully obtained occupational accident benefits and medical benefits from the Labor Insurance Bureau.

Li Baichang, deputy director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department of the Ministry of Labor, pointed out that there are more than 20,000 large and small occupational accidents nationwide in one year, but many workers are worried about affecting their work, or employers are worried about follow-up compensation. The Occupational Accident Insurance Protection Act came into effect last year, and the special fund for occupational accidents is about 10 billion yuan a year, 80% of which is on the payment side, and 20% is used for prevention and reconstruction funds, hoping to take care of every worker.

Chen Xinshui, Director of the Rehabilitation Department of National Taiwan University Yunlin Branch, said that functional rehabilitation is different from general rehabilitation. Individualized intensive training will be given according to the work attributes of the injured, such as weight push carts to help restore the ability to move and push heavy objects.

Xie Shuya, deputy county magistrate of Yunlin County, said that the Yunlin County government has established a single window dedicated to occupational disaster management. When a case is received, a dedicated service will be activated to provide resources, referrals, and assistance in labor disputes.

National Taiwan University Yunlin Branch has passed the double accreditation of the Ministry of Labor to become a specialized hospital for the diagnosis and treatment of occupational injuries and a professional institution for functional rehabilitation of occupational accidents. It provides one-stop services from occupational accident prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and rehabilitation to assist workers to return to the workplace as soon as possible.
