Wang Mengchao delivered a special speech on the theme of "Green Theater". He mentioned that the future of global venues is moving towards green theater.

Theater is a game of sound and light. It consumes a lot of energy intensively in a short period of time. Although it is a last resort, the impact on the earth cannot be ignored. "It is an inevitable trend to work towards sustainability and save energy and reduce carbon emissions."

He pointed out that the North Arts Center has found an energy-saving company to conduct an assessment and set a goal to reduce resource consumption.

Taking Beiyi Center as an example, some of the equipment has been designed with energy-saving considerations in mind. For example, the S-shaped glass is double-layered, which can reduce sunlight exposure and air-conditioning leakage.

However, since the project was more than 10 years old, the technology at that time may be outdated now, and a plan to replace the old with the new needs to be drawn up.

He also encourages creators to also think about sustainable creation, such as the subject matter of works, sustainable initiatives, annual representative activities, production management and disposal systems, etc.

Theater professional equipment exhibition and professional lectures will be held at Beiyi Center on the 24th and 25th. Admission is free, please inquire for details (https://www.tpac-taipei.org/events/single/368).
