The republican special purpose unit "ZUBR" completed its mission in Turkey and returned to Belarus, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus reports.

Together with them, 4 Belarusians with 9 children returned to Belarus from the affected regions of Turkey on board the Ministry of Defense, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reports.

64 employees of "ZUBR" together with the canine service, special equipment and emergency rescue tools have been working in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaras, which suffered from a series of earthquakes, since February 8.

In total, during search and rescue operations, they pulled out 51 people from the rubble, 6 of whom miraculously survived.

Someone lay under the rubble for 4 days, someone for a little less than a week, and there were those who stayed for more than 8 days, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus notes.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria has risen to more than 45,000, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.

In Turkey, according to the latest data, 39,672 people died.

This number is expected to increase as many are still missing.

In Syria, the authorities reported more than 5,800 dead.

Tens of thousands of people were injured, millions were left homeless.
