Driving licenses of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates will be mutually recognized.

APA reports that this was reflected in the draft law "On the approval of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the United Arab Emirates on the mutual recognition and exchange of driver's licenses" which was discussed at today's session of the Milli Majlis.

A valid driver's license issued to non-resident citizens in accordance with the categories of vehicles mentioned in the Memorandum (taking into account the minimum age limit) is also recognized by both countries.

In relation to the citizens who come for the purpose of living, those citizens are exempted from the prescribed theoretical and practical examination when applying for the purpose of changing the driver's license issued by the competent authorities of the parties.

The competent authorities of the coordinating parties for the implementation of this Memorandum are the General State Police Department on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Federal General Department for Issuing Vehicle and Driver Licenses on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

According to the memorandum, the other party must be informed through diplomatic channels without delay about any additions or changes made to the respective national legislation of the party states.

At the same time, any disagreement between the parties is resolved through direct negotiations and consultations.

This Memorandum of Understanding shall enter into force on the date of receipt of the last written notification confirming the completion of all procedures.

This Memorandum is concluded for an indefinite period.

Signed in two originals in Arabic and English.

In case of any disagreement in the description of the memorandum, the English text shall prevail.

The project was put to a vote and adopted in one reading.
