Today we celebrate Triphon Zarezan and Saint Valentine.

It is celebrated as a holiday of those associated with winemaking and the wine trade, and is also historically associated with falconers and gardeners.

The day is February 14 (Gregorian calendar).

The holiday is also known as Zarezanovden, Trifun Chipia, Trifun Zarezoi, Trifun pianitsa.

The next two days, called in folklore "trifunci", are celebrated for protection against wolves.

Lovers celebrate Valentine's Day.

The holiday usually does not pass without gifts, candies and flowers.

On February 14, the Orthodox Church celebrates the feast of the Assumption of St. Cyril Slavo-Bulgarian.

Constantine the Philosopher, called Cyril, came from the family of the noble Slavs of Thessalonica - Leo and Mary.

He studied at the Magnaur School in Constantinople, and then was appointed patriarchal librarian and professor of philosophy.

Bored with the vanity of this world, Constantine escaped secretly to the monastery of Olympus in Asia Minor to his brother Methodius, where they created the Slavic alphabet and translated the holy books of the Orthodox Church into the language of the Salonica Bulgarians.
