Japanese Investment Bank - SoftBank Group has said it has suffered a loss of Sh 13.79 trillion (783 billion Yen) in the October - December quarter caused by the decline in technology stocks worldwide.

During the same period in 2021, SoftBank Group Corp.

made a profit of 29 billion yen.

SoftBank invests in hundreds of companies, including phone company SoftBank, website provider Yahoo, rental car company Didi and China's e-commerce giant Alibaba.

It also runs a Vision Fund that includes other international investors.

SoftBank Group recorded about 512 billion yen in losses on investments in the quarter, as its stock and currency prices fell, it said.

Uncertainty has plagued Japanese companies recently, such as rising material costs and high interest rates.

Tensions such as the war in Ukraine have also contributed.
